  Mr Bello, a lieutenant colonel, was the Commanding Officer of the 65 Battalion. which was at the Lekki Tollgate on the evening of October 20, a top military official said. A lieutenant colonel of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, S.O Bello, who led the team involved in the October 20 Lekki Shooting incident, has rejected witness summons issued to him by the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry. Jonathan Ogunsanya, the counsel to the witness, said this on Saturday when the case involving the Nigerian Army was called for further hearing on their role at the Lekki Shooting. Mr Ogunsanya said Mr Bello refused to accept the summons served to him, which was sent through a dispatcher. Ibrahim Taiwo, the Commander, 81 Division and Head, Military Intelligence Brigade, earlier explained the role played by Mr Bello, a senior officer of the Nigerian Army in the Lekki Shooting incident.   Some residents, landlords and tenants of Dejuwogbo community, Oke-Ota Ona, Ikorodu, in Lagos State, have abandoned their homes after receiving a threat notice posted in the neighborhood by gunmen suspected to be robbers. Those who have not temporarily relocated are worried about their safety as they endure fearful nights. It was learnt that the people woke up last Saturday to the posters of masked armed men pasted in strategic points in the community. In the notice, the gunmen threatened to attack the community on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and demanded maximum cooperation. “Team 13. Dejuwogbo CDA. Expect us 24, 25 & 26 December, 2020. Maximum cooperation or head would roll (sic).” According to Punch, some of the community leaders, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the residents had become nervous since the notice was pasted. The international news outfit said the the Panel lacks jurisdiction to summon its staff since they are not in Nigeria. CNN’s Lawyers, Messrs. Olumide Babalola LP, filed the objection dated 4th December 2020 at the Tribunal on December 9, 2020. In the letter, seen by The Nation, Mr Olumide Babalola said: “Since the Objectors are not “persons in Nigeria” as envisaged by the provision of section 5(c) (of Tribunals Of Inquiry Law Of Lagos State, Cap.   President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday departed Abuja to Daura, Katsina State, to begin a one-week visit to his country home. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the presidential aircraft carrying the president and some members of his entourage landed at Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, Katsina at about 4.30 p.m. Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, Deputy Gov. Mannir Yakubu, Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika and top government officials received the president in Katsina while members of the Daura Emirate Council welcomed him at Daura. NAN gathered that the President might entertain both official and private engagements, including visits to his farm, during his one-week stay in Daura. Buhari is expected to return to Abuja on December 18th, 2020.

  LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. drugmaker  Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech said on Wednesday that documents related to development of their COVID-19 vaccine had been “unlawfully accessed” in a cyberattack on Europe’s medicines regulator. The European Medicines Agency (EMA), which assesses medicines and vaccines for the European Union, said hours earlier  it had been targeted in a cyberattack  . It gave no further details.
